Preservation Santa Cruz County was inspired by various organizations that once advocated for historic preservation and promoted local history of Santa Cruz County. 

• Santa Cruz Historical Society, Inc. 1954-1986

• Santa Cruz County Society for Historical Preservation, Inc. 1968-1986

• Santa Cruz County Historical Trust 1986-1994

Although today there is no historical society or historic trust, it is hoped that the social media presence of an Instagram page and this website can help fill that gap.

Thank you the History Forum for the generous Dolkas-Mertz Award in 2025 which allowed the Instagram page to begin in early 2026. The website was created with the assistance and guidance of Andrew O’Keefe of Amotion.Video.
